Lions, and Tigers, and Bears... Oh My!

Our trip to the zoo! It was hot but fun and the kids had a great time. We took the carousel and the train for a spin, which the kids loved. Cache was so amazed by all the animals, especially the monkeys that they were really real. Mason liked the giraffe, Dylann liked the carousel, and York was a long for the ride. The bears were very playful and it was really fun to watch them! Over all it was a fun day at the zoo and we had some nice family time together.

Catching up!

OK it has been a while, but I am not in the mood to post lately. So here are a few things of what has been going on! I always bleach the boys hair for the summer. Mason was not too thrilled about this but Cache loved it.




Mason's did not turn out as good as Cache's. Cache looks so cute with his big blues. York has been busy with soccer and just being a teenager, driving Eric and I crazy! He did make Murray Max which I was really happy about. It will be a great time consumption and ego boost for him. Dylann oh little Dylann. She is all boy wrapped up in a girls body! It scares me! We went to the park the other day and Mason went down the fireman pole. Well I guess she thought she could do it too, and luckily a mom there grabbed her before I could get to her! Then Eric and I took the kids swimming at the Rec Center. She would just take off into the deep end even though she was getting whisked away and here nose was about covered. I took her down the big water slide on my lap which scared the crap out of me because she came out of my arms once but I caught her. When we finally hit the bottom she was ready to go again. She was pist that Eric or I would not just keep taking her down. Mason is in a summer camp and likes it a lot. Last week he got to meet some firefighters and climb on the truck. He loved it because he wants to be a firefighter like his Uncle John. Which would make Uncle John really happy someone followed in his footsteps! Cache is just Cache and is as wild as ever. We have managed to loose another mold, well the dog ate it. He will be getting his own set of hearing aids in the next week. I am excited. We finally put some heavy duty locks on the doors so he has no way to escape now! That about it for our uninteresting life! I wish I had more! Oh I did apply to go back full time but we will see and I did find what I think will be a perfect babysitter! She even knows sign language! It is crazy how things turn out!

Funny Stuff

So I read this and had to post it! Although I am not in my 30's yet... I am pretty close and I totally inderstand this!

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears
With their tedious diatribes about how hard things were
When they were growing up; what with walking
Twenty-five miles to school every morning ... Uphill BOTH ways

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up,
There was no way in hell I was going to lay
A bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I had it
And how easy they've got it!
But now that... I'm over the ripe old age of
Thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today.



You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my
Childhood, you live in a damn Utopia!
And I hate to say it but you kids today you
Don't know how good you've got it!

I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The
Internet.

If we wanted to know something,
We had to go to the damn library and
Look it up ourselves, in the card catalogue!!
There was no email!! We had to actually write
Somebody a letter, with a pen!
Then you had to walk all the way across the street and
Put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there!

There were no MP3's or Napsters! You wanted to
Steal music, you had to hitchhike to the damn record store and shoplift it yourself!
Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ'd usually talk over the
Beginning and @#*% it all up!
We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you
Were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it!

And we didn't have fancy Caller ID Boxes either!
When the phone rang, you
Had no idea who it was! It could be your school,
Your mom, your boss, your
Bookie, your drug dealer, a collections agent, you
Just didn't know!!! You had
To pick it up and take your chances, mister!

We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video
Games with high-resolution
3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games
Like 'Space Invaders' and
'asteroids'.

Your guy was a little square! You
Actually had to use your
Imagination!! And there were no multiple levels or
Screens, it was just one screen
Forever!

And you could never win.

The game just kept getting
Harder and harder and
Faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!

When you went to the movie theatre there no such
Thing as stadium seating!
All the seats were the same height! If a tall guy
Or some old broad with a hat
Sat in front of you and you couldn't see, you were
Just screwed!

Sure, we had cable television, but back then that
Was only like 15 channels
And there was no on screen menu and no remote
Control! You had to use a
Little book called a TV Guide to find out what was
On! You were screwed when it Came to channel surfing! You had to get off
Your ass and walk over to the TV to change the
Channel and there was no
Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons
On Saturday Morning.

Do you
Hear what I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK
For cartoons, you spoiled
Little rat-bastards!

And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat
Something up we had to
Use the stove or go build a frigging fire ..
Imagine that! If we wanted
Popcorn, we had to use that stupid Jiffy Pop thing
And shake it over the stove
forever like an idiot.



That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids
Today have got it too easy.


You're spoiled.

You guys wouldn't have lasted
Five minutes back in 1980!

Happy Birthday Cache!

Yes I am really late on this post! It has been very busy! Caches B-day was the 18th! Although we did not celebrate his b-day on his b-day he still had a good one! I won't go through Caches arrival to the world because if you read my blog you will see it right. As I've said, he is my little hero! He is such an amazing kid and I feel so lucky to have him! Although at times my very mischievous child will send me to my limits I still can't help but to smile at him! At any given time you will see Cache wondering out my front door with no one trying to sneak away! Lucky for me I have great neighbors who look for him and seem to bring him back in the 5 minutes that I have turned my head! I really need to get a sign out front that says deaf child! Side note to self-check into that!

Cache has had such a great year and has come such a long way since we first moved back! When we moved to from Vegas Cache was only 18 months. He was not walking, talking, and definitely was not where he was supposed to be! After much work, a new pediatrician, and months of worries Cache had finally been diagnoses with being deaf. Which was no surprise to us. The funniest thing about it all is when the first audiologist told me that he was deaf I was relived! See there was so much worse he could have... we went from a brain tumor (the scariest and I will never forget braking down at work after coming down from the oncology unit), to autism, to deaf. The audiologist kept telling me it was ok to cry and I wanted to laugh right at her! Deaf, honey I have been through hell with this kid, deaf was nothing!

Cache has hit so many mile stones in this last year. He started walking at about 20 months but is still uneasy on his feet. You will always find some bruise on Cache because he falls all the time. The poor kid looks like we beat him sometimes! And we are always yelling at him so he can hear us which we now tend to do with the other kids! I am sure my neighbors think we are crazy! Since he has started school he has also grown so much! He rides the bus everyday and he loves it. He is starting to Babel like a baby which makes things nice because he used to just scream. He will copy your words and although he may not get it out right he will have the same amount of syllables. Cache has an incredible smile and amazing eyes. It will melt your heart! I am looking forward to the next year to see him grow more like he has this year.


Cache used to fall asleep in the middle of the room when he was little even if there was a million things going on!

Retiring Blogging

So I decided I have no time for this! I am going to retire it for the summer! I think it is a winter activity! I will still post great events which I still need to do but I will not be posting much as you can see! I am just not in the mood with the sun out and shining! I will post about once a week! That is as good as it gets!

Why I Hate Health Insurance!

S now that I am done with the last post I will go on to bigger and better things! Here is a warning I am going to rant like hell in this so beware! As you all are aware I work part time nights and I am tried most days! (I don't function well without sleep!) So Friday was no exception. I got home late Thursday night got a few hours of sleep and woke up to start my day! Cache does not have school on Fridays, yes I still need to blog about that, but Mason does. So I take Mason to school and of course I am ornery my kids are ornery and it is just one of those days. After Cache's teacher visits, we get in the car to go get Mason. By this time we are all tired! Diva came out of the house with us so I decided to let her go for a ride too! So off we went and much to my surprise the kids are screaming and upset for one reason or another! My precious little princess, I am being sarcastic as I say this, decides she is going to rip out Cache's hearing aid. So I grab from her. I was on the free way driving at the time so I just set it on the passenger seat so I can drive. Knowing that was a bad idea. In the mean while Cache is now pist off and takes off his seat belt, yes right on the free way! You see where this is going? So I am almost to the exit and I am yelling at him to get it back on! We stop I put it back on and we get Mason. Stop for gas, get home, make lunch, think to myself I should go get Cache's hearing aid but don't. Put babies to sleep. Then I decide to go get the hearing aid and what do I find..... an empty seat! I tear apart my car and no sign of it! By then I am thinking the dog ate it! Could that little tiny puppy swallow that big thing? Well I make the dog puke! How do I do this you ask? Well pour about a tablespoon of salt down your dogs throat and see what happens. Don't ask how I a know this! Even though I know it will be ruined when it comes out at least I know where it went. No signs of a puked up hearing aid. I call the school to see if it dropped out, no luck. I go to the gas station, no luck. It is now Monday and no luck! So why did I tell you this story? Here goes the ranting! Prepare!

The hearing aid that is now gone into the black hole of missing hearing aids was not ours! Yes there is a BIG black hole of hearing aids just ask any parent who has a child with hearing aids! See you can not buy your own aids till you see how well your child does on them so they loan you some. This is all done from Utah Schools for the Deaf, USD. As you have seen in previous posts they cost about 2K a piece. Well I will be buying that hearing aid now. Then I will be buying my own set! Drum roll please... yes that is now 6K in hearing aids. This my friend is why insurance sucks! They won't pay for my sons hearing aids! They will pay for him to have surgery and get a cochlear implant. So they want my son to have a needless surgery that cost approximately 116K and not pay for hearing aids. Why I have no clue, but this is why people are forced to get a cochlear implant. The alternative sucks! I am not a fan of the cochlear implant and I have my reasons and it is just not for us right now. Here is why... When a cochlear implant is placed it ruins the whole cochlear. This will never be able to be fixed and they will have to wear and have this the rest of there life. It is a very new technology and has only been around about 10 years but has recently been push for in the last 5. So can you imagine what will come next? They have already improved them greatly and you can't get an upgrade all to easy! It means another surgery that's if you can. It can cause vertigo and Cache already suffers from this tremendously! There is about a 3% increase of bacterial meningitis with a cochlear. Which doesn't seem too significant but with Cache he has an increase risk for infection due to his pace maker? They also push these on kids who have had meningitis because it causes profound deafness. Which then increases the risks even more! This really infuriates me! Also last but not least my son doesn't need to be fixed! He is fine the way he is. He is just as normal as you and I! He will do just fine in life! I am so sick of telling people my son is deaf and hearing "I am sorry!" Don't be cause I am not! I have learned so much from this little guy! I am so thankful to have him! When he was born I made a deal with God and I asked him to just let me keep him and I will take anything else you throw at me! He did and we are taking this as a blessing! I remember holding him at the hospital and telling him you are going to be something great when you get older, you are going to achieve great things! He already has in his short 3 years and he is truly my hero!

Don't get me wrong I am grateful to have health insurance! Without it I would be screwed! But I feel very strongly that if they paid for hearing aids it would benefit both the patient and them!

I just wanted to say happy mothers day to all mom's out there! We totally deserve this day! Although my mothers day was spent working at the shit hole place I call work, it was not a bad day! I got to do my favorite thing... sleep in! Thanks Babe! To be awoken with cards! Both of which sing. The kids sand that song "Your Unbelievable" and had there little hands prints on it! Eric was so proud of himself! We are going on a trip so we are not getting presents for each other. I am was super excited! It was a good day! I love being a Mommy!
