8 Years and Counting

Today marks the day that 8 years ago Eric and I said “I do.” In the 10 years, we have been together we have had many, many ups, and many downs. I can’t say they have all been happy ones, but I can say we never stopped loving each other. We have never lost site of what was important and the commitment we have to each other and our children.
In 10 years Eric and I have lived in 8 homes, 2 states, spent approximately 40 days in a NICU, approximately 9 days in a PICU, had an appendix out, and many, many more hospitalizations. We have had cardiologists, pulmonologists, neonatologisits, cardiothorascic surgeons, ENT’s, audiologists, general surgeons, anesthesiologists, dentists, orthodonisists, pediatricians, physical therapists, speech pathologists, neurologists, and that list goes on and on. We have had sick parents, have had to handle split families, been well off to broke, we both have had demanding carriers and gave them both up for our children, I had a job that required me to travel all over the country while Eric took care of our new infant and other children, had an unexpected wonderful little girl, I have worked full time, part-time, many nights, many weekends, to staying home and going to school.
We have also been very fortunate to have each other, and been blessed with five of the most important days of our lives: April 20, 2002, October 8, 1994, April 11, 2003, May 18, 2005, and September 12, 2006. We have had many great healthcare workers that have saved the four most important things to us. Have great parents who have helped us and supported us through the 10 years we have been together. We have siblings that are always helping us when we need them the most. Extended family that has been great supporters. Wonderful friends who have seen us through it all and new friends that have begun to help us through the rest of our journey.
Eric and I have defied many odds and managed to make it through many obstacles that would have broken other marriages. The journey so far has been hard and lots of work, but been worth every bad day, tears dropped, little fights, smiles made, love grown, happiness made, laughter heard, and the memories made and the many more to come.
I love you, Eric, more then anything and I could not have picked a better life partner and a person to raise four of the most amazing kids! Happy 8 with many, many more to come!
